Ohio Golf Courses and Reviews
Our Ohio golf course reviews use a simple 1 to 5 scoring system across four key categories: Layout/Design, Condition, Value, and Amenities. The categories will total up to 20 points for an overall score. Each category is rated based on personal play experience, with 5 being elite (must-play quality) and 1 being poor (avoid if possible).
We average the scores for a final number out of 20, then assign a letter grade. This keeps it straightforward and honest, helping you find friendly golf courses that fit your game and budget. Check the full rubric below for details!
A. Layout/Design - Overall architecture, hole variety, strategic interest, and visual appeal
5: Memorable holes, excellent flow, scenic
4: Solid variety, engaging
3: Average, some repetition
2: Bland, poor routing
1: Unplayable or boring
B. Condition - Turf quality, green speed, bunker maintenance, and overall upkeep
5: Pristine greens (10+ Stimpmeter), lush fairways
4: Well-groomed, minor wear
3: Playable but patchy
2: Poor maintenance
1: Unmowed or hazardous
C. Value - Rate vs. quality (greens fees, carts, extras)
5: Under $30, exceptional bang for buck
4: $30–$50, good deal
3: $50–$70, fair
2: Overpriced for quality
1: $100+ with subpar conditions
D. Amenities - Clubhouse, pro shop, food, practice facilities, staff.
5: Full bar/grill, range, pro shop, friendly staff
4: Good basics (cart, restroom, snacks)
3: Minimal (just carts)
2: Poor facilities
1: None or rundown.
A - Must Play (17-20)
B - Strong Play (14-16)
C - Could Play (11-13)
D - Is Nothing Else Available (8-10)
F - Go to the Range (1-7)
