Layout / Design = 5/5
I kind of look into how the holes are different than each other to judge design and layout. Also, how do the holes mimic the surrounding topography. Felt like this course was well designed, each hole laid out to serve what’s best for the hole.
More in the breakdown below.
Condition = 4/5
Spent a lot of time looking for balls that just missed the fairway. Good teeshots that might have just got a bad bounce to the right sometimes could not be found. Felt like this part was a little annoying.
I do realize that the seasons and timeframe of the year probably have a lot to do with this. Which is why i’m keeping it at a 4 and not going lower.

Value = 3/5
If you like the scenic views and variety of shots you are going to hit then definitely check this course out.
I gave it a 3 because it hit that $50-$70 range on the premade rubric and didn’t really separate itself from other similar courses in that range.

Amenities = 5/5
Lots of really nice extras that are here at the golf course. Snack bar, putting gree, driving range, really nice carts with GPS enables. Club house is spectacular and a great place to get some food after tearing up the course!

Playing Experience
Rounds take 4.5–5 hours on this hilly course. Fairways are narrow but fair, greens elevated and guarded, demanding accuracy.
The quarry elements add elevation and visual intimidation, but fairways hold shots well. For scrambles, the layout encourages team strategy on par-5s over water. Wind can amplify challenges on exposed holes.
Who It's For
Ideal for mid-to-low handicappers (Scratch to 20) seeking acclaimed, scenic play. Great for scramble groups or couples wanting a unique day.
Skip if you're a beginner or budget-conscious.
Final Thoughts
The Quarry is a Northeast Ohio showpiece, 17/20 for its innovative design and pristine condition.
It's the kind of course that lingers in memory, blending beauty and challenge. Pair it with a meal in the resturant afterwards.

Memorable holes? Which ones?
#7 is a visual masterpiece. Long par 5 that goes down into a valley then back up the hill towards the green. A few decisions on what to hit off the tee as there is danger down the right side of the fairway with a patch of high grass, trees, and obstacles.
#18 as a finishing hole you have to battle at lot of obstacles. Water on the left, bunker deep on the right, homes all over the right side. Picking the tee shot and then hitting a pressure packed second shot into the green that is being overlooked by the restaurant and bar area.
Good variety (par 3s, 4s, 5s)?
3 - 4 (6, 9, 12, 17)
4 - 10 (2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 14, 16, 18)
5 - 4 (1,7,11.15)
Strategic interest? Multiple ways to play?
I think there are many ways to play this. You can legit be comfortable hitting less than driver on some holes as the landing spots could offer some problems
Scenic? Visual appeal?
One of the most scenic courses in the area. Each hole rolls with the topography and what it is given.
Course style (links/parkland/forest/hilly/flat):
Hilly wooded course with bunkers, water and OB.
WHY THIS SCORE:
I kind of look into how the holes are different than each other to judge design and layout. Also, how do the holes mimic the surrounding topography. Felt like this course was well designed, each hole laid out to serve what’s best for the hole.

CONDITION: 4 / 5
DATE PLAYED:

Green speed (slow/medium/fast):
Medium but they have been aerated recently
Green quality (smooth/bumpy/true roll):
True roll
Fairways (lush/patchy/firm/bare):
Firm and lush, good bounce and roll out in the fairways
Tee boxes (level/good turf):
Level, good turf
Bunkers (raked/good sand):
Little hard but probably more of the weather than anything
Rough (maintained/overgrown):
Overgrown, ball sinking down, hard to locate shots that were even 5-10 yards from the fairway.
Overall upkeep:
Except for the length of the rough, pretty good
WHY THIS SCORE:
Spent a lot of time looking for balls that just missed the fairway. Good teeshots that might have just got a bad bounce to the right sometimes could not be found. Felt like this part was a little annoying. I do realize that the seasons and timeframe of the year probably have a lot to do with this. Which is why i’m keeping it at a 4 and not going lower.

VALUE: 3 / 5
Green fee:
$59 - Mentioned in the clubhouse that using tee time schedulers are higher than actually calling the place
Cart:
Included, with on board GPS
Day/time played:
Middle of the day on a saturday.
Worth the price?
Yes, if it’s a discounted fee
Compared to similar courses:
Hard to compare this one because of the location it is built on. Rumored to be an old rock quarry and there are a few features that i’d say seem to make that statement accurate. Most courses in the area are pretty flat.
Would you pay this again?
Yes, for a discounted price. Not for above $60
WHY THIS SCORE:
If you like the scenic views and variety of shots you are going to hit then definitely check this course out. I gave it a 3 because it hit that $50-$70 range on the premade rubric and didn’t really separate itself from other similar courses in that range.

ACE'S COURSE TIPS
Tip #1:
There are a couple holes I would think about laying up instead of going for the driver. #4 is tempting because of the distance, but lots of obstacles around the green.
Tip #2:
Some of the holes have that look where it’s hard to trust the yardage you are seeing. They may look closer or further away. Trust the GPS. Found out the hard way on #5
Tip #3:
Good walking shoes for trying to find your ball in the rough!

SIGNATURE HOLES
FAVORITE HOLE:
#4 - Par 4 - 282 Yards
Why?
The urge to hit driver and try to drive the green makes one pound out their chest. A decent drive puts you into scoring position.
HARDEST HOLE:
#13 - Par 4 - 386 Yards
Why?
Driving into a valley with OB trouble on the right and left. At the bottom of the valley is a little creek so if you smash that drive, that could be in the way. Second shot is uphill with a small green to hit. If the flag is on the left, like it was for us, it’s incredibly hard. You have to overshoot the green but at least 10-15 yards or you are screwed.
MOST SCENIC:
#7
Why?
Simple answer is that it’s long and just looks incredibly from the tee

JEFF'S VERDICT
Would I play again?
YES, if it’s under $50
Why?
It's a cool course to go to and enjoy the views and check out a nice course.
Best for (skill level/type/situation):
Mid to low handicapped golfers that can take advantage of ball placement and good putting.
NOT ideal for:
High handicapped golfers. I don’t think it would be fun even from the front tees.
Overall honest take (2-3 sentences):
High handicapped golfers. I don’t think it would be fun even from the front tees.
